The Mantel Scarf
I have been busy working on my December goals! My first goal is to complete the embroidered applique’ owls I found when I was looking for another item I
lost, er – put in a safe place! This was originally intended to be a table runner, but for picture purposes I decided to put the flimsy on my mantle, and voila’! It was born a table runner, but it is now mantel scarf!! LOL This was quilted using Quilter’s Dream 80/20 and Glide thread (red) for the crosshatched sashing and free motion holly leaves and berries in the outer border. The blocks were quilted using rulers and free motion “squiggles” with white 50 wt thread by Superior and Superior bottom line in the bobbin.
Seriously though, I really, really like the way it looks on the mantel instead of on the table. Now when I get those three new stockings completed for the grandkiddos the owls will have some company! I am ready to start the embroidery for them now.
Saturday was such a rainy, dreary, cold, did I mention rainy?? day, so back to the Quilt Cave I went and decided to work on the Christmas Cactus flimsy. I used two layers of Quilter’s Dream 80/20 and Exquisite silver metallic thread, though the picture does not do the “shiny” justice! And Superior Bottom Line in the bobbin. You can’t really see it well in the picture, but I quilted free motion swirls and curls in the small red borders and used the ProStitcher to quilt a row of snowflakes in the black borders. The feathers and large triangleswere quilted with the ProStitcher and the remainder of the cactus was ruler work and free motion leaves.
Now, onward and upward to the Christmas stockings!!
I’ll be sharing with my favorite linkies this week as they become available.
Stay tuned for another update later in the week. Until then…
Have a day blessed with perfect stitches!
